3rd Annual Guys Weekend

We had another successful guys weekend up at Brian-head in Utah.  Once again Jordan couldn't make it and then Jeff had a family emergency come up, but the rest of us had a great time.  We left Thursday afternoon before traffic hit.  Ben and Tyler picked me up and Nathan was driving in from Vegas.  When we got there Nathan had a little bad news.  During the winter the power went out in the whole city and many of the cabin's in the area had pipes freeze.  The person in charge of fixing the cabin's pipes said he had finished, but really hadn't so one of the bathrooms was taken apart, but it didn't matter because the water couldn't be turned on because all of the leaks weren't fixed yet.

We debated what to do, but none of us wanted to go home.  The idea of getting rooms at the ski lodge down the street came up, but we didn't want to pay the high rates so we decided to go down to the lodge and ask how much they would charge to use a room to use the restroom and to take showers after going four wheeling.  At first the guy at the front desk wanted to charge us $90 a day, but we were blessed and one of the managers said we could get around having to be charged a room if we just use the spa facilities.  It was agreed that we could use the public restrooms anytime we needed and that we could call the spa and set up times to use the showers when there were no appointments.

It turned out great because the facilities were very nice.  They even let us use their pool and hot tub.  Everyday we would walk into the lodge and one of the workers would refer to us as the four guys that are using the facilities.  Everyone knew of us.  To show our appreciation we at dinner at one of the restaurants and each got an aqua massage.

As for the rest of the trip we had fun.  The two previous years had been tricky because there was still a lot of snow on the ground.  That is why we moved our trip from May to late June.  This allowed us a lot more freedom with our four wheeling.  We didn't have any major accidents, but there were some scary moments, don't worry Michelle they didn't involve me.  On Sunday afternoon we took a drive to this lookout point.  The view was amazing.

Nathan didn't want to come along, but the rest of us enjoyed the view.  Here are Ben and I.  We have been friends since high school and its been fun to live in the same state again.  Tyler and Ben use to be in the same ward together and the first time Ben introduced Tyler and I we realized that we had served in the same mission.  I was embarrassed because he recognized me right off the bat and it took me a long while to realize who he was.  We had never served together or in the same zones, plus he has lost quite a bit of weight so I can't be blamed for it.

In between riding the four wheelers, playing video games, watching movies, staying up late talking, eating more than we should and lounging around we also headed into Cedar City for our usual dinner and a movie.  since we couldn't all decide on one movie we decided to go to two movies.  We went to Green Lantern first and none of us liked it very much.  We then went to a BBQ joint and has some great ribs and pulled pork.  We then wasted some time at some hippie style gathering in a park that had all sorts of booths selling different had made items.  Our second choice of movies was X-Men: The New Class.  It was much better and we all agreed it was the right movie to end on.  To finish up the evening we went out for ice cream.  I wish I had taken more pictures of the weekend, but what I have above is it.

After four days of being gone it was nice to be home in my own bed with running water, but it was nice to be out with the boys and have some fun.  I hope the tradition continues and that Michelle will be so nice to let me go on vacation without her.

You Wouldn't Believe It!.........

I know that many of you have been asking when Michelle, Drew, and I would be knowing whether Drew would have a little brother or sister and we are please to announce that:

It's a
Brother!

We are so excited.  We both wanted another boy so that Drew would have a brother that was close to him in age.  A little sister would also have been nice so that we would have had one of each like Michelle's other siblings, but we wouldn't have it any other way.  Here is a little video clip of the ultrasound when we found out it was a boy.

We can't wait to see how Drew reacts to another kid in the family and see what our boy looks like in person.  I know we have a long ways to go, half way, but it will be well worth it.  If you want to see the full Ultra Sound Video then follow the link below:

It is long, but in the middle there is a 5-7 minute part that is black because the Tech left the room for something.  The full video is mainly for the grandparents to watch because I am sure most of you have better things to be doing.  Enjoy.

Calming the Beast Down

Michelle and I have been waiting patiently for Drew to grow a nice thick head of hair like his father, but I think we'll have to wait a while on that one.  Although it isn't thick it has been getting longer and a bit crazy.  His hair is really light and thin and gets all wire crazy like in the back any time his head leans against something.  Michelle has wanted to get his hair trimmed for that last few weeks, but we hadn't managed to get it done until now.  I took Drew over to Grandma and Grandpa Woolley's house after picking him up from the babysitter's house.  Carol was staying the night at their house and offered to bring up her hair clippers so she could cut his hair.  Here are a few pictures of him before he got it cut.

Grandma Woolley found an old hand towel to wrap around his neck and back.  He looked so cute as he waited for the process to begin.  I held him in my lap and did the best I could of taking some pictures and a few videos of the experience.

Drew did a great job of sitting still for most of the time.  He would give some smiles every once in a while at the vibration of the electric clippers, but other times he kind of had this look of "what are you doing to me?"

The finished product left us with one good looking boy.  Again his hair is so light that these pictures don't do it justice.  Believe me, the haircut made a difference if you have ever seen his hair in person.

Thanks Carol for giving him his first haircut.  Maybe next time I will venture out of just cutting my own hair and give Drew's hair a try.  The worst thing that could happen is a mess up and we just have to shave his head.  Either way he would still be the cutest kid alive.
